The Democratic Congress

I seem to remember one of the main slogans the Dems used in the 2006 elections to be "We are going to clean up congress and stop all the corruption. We need full disclosure!"… or something to that affect. My question is, what happened? According to a recent poll by the people at Gallup, the Congress has a 14% confidence rating. Not only is this the lowest rating Congress has had in the history of Gallup polls, but it is the lowest out of the 16 institutions that were polled. According to the poll, the people of the U.S. have over twice the amount of confidence in our public school system as they do in their Congress! Dang. That is just sad. I think the 46% rating of the churches is pretty embarrassing as well, but I think that is due to the amount of churches that are “country club-ish” and that just flat out crumble due to corruption. But that is a whole other post in itself. So to get back on topic, what has the Democratic Congress done for us? What has is achieved in the time it has been in power? I really want to know, because I can’t think of anything besides empty legislation and empty promises. I also think that the fact that our military is at the top is a testament to the caliber of our fine men and women in uniform. In my opinion the lack of confidence in our government as a whole shows that the people of the United States are not satisfied with how things are being handled. Such as the lack of action being taken to secure our borders, and deal with the immigration problem, or the lack of funding and support for our troops in Iraq. I say Congress needs a good slap in the face to get their heads out of the clouds and get back on line with what is important to the American people.
